Biography

Dr. Kassim is a board-certified dermatologist who specializes in both general and cosmetic dermatology and enjoys seeing patients of all ages. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia as a Jerome Holland Scholar and Echols Scholar, which is a distinction only bestowed upon the top 5% of incoming students. She subsequently attended Howard University College of Medicine, where she received numerous academic scholarships and awards, including the prestigious Trustee Scholarship, which is reserved for top-performing students. Following medical school, Dr. Kassim received specialty trading in dermatology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, where she had the honor of serving as Chief Resident. During residency, Dr. Kassim received several more scholarships and awards including from the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery. In addition, Dr. Kassim’s extensive research activities have led to publications in leading dermatology journals including the Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy, the American Journal of Dermatopathology, the Journal of Investigative Dermatology and the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. 

Following residency, Dr. Kassim further honed her expertise in cosmetics by completing a Fellowship in Cosmetic and Laser Surgery in New York followed by practice in the New York City area. While practicing in New York, Dr. Kassim received the Patients’ Choice Award in recognition of being one of “New York’s Favorite Physicians.” Additionally, Dr. Kassim was selected as top dermatologist and featured in New York Magazine’s Top Doctors List. Dr. Kassim subsequently returned to her hometown of Washington, DC, where she served as Chief of Dermatology at two military medical centers in Northern Virginia. Dr. Kassim is now delighted to spend time in the Hampton Roads area, where she works part-time as a dermatologist at Lakeview Medical Center.
