Biography

W. Rainey Johnson, MD, FACC graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont. He received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Johnson completed his internal medicine internship and residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) in Bethesda, Maryland, where he remained as a junior faculty member while serving as a Chief of Residents for the internal medicine program. Then, he completed his cardiovascular disease fellowship at WRNMMC, serving as chief fellow during his final year.

Dr. Johnson is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and American College of Physicians. He also currently serves in the US Navy Medical Corps at the rank of LCDR.

He practices comprehensive general cardiology with a particular interest in multimodality imaging (e.g., echocardiography, cardiac MRI, cardiac computed tomography, nuclear cardiology).
