Kelly is a native of Georgia and attended the University of South Carolina (USC) on a Naval ROTC scholarship. She graduated from USC with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree in 1996. Upon graduation, Kelly was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy and was stationed at Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth. Kelly worked briefly on a specialty surgery unit, but quickly found her niche as a labor and delivery nurse. Kelly attained the rank of lieutenant and left the Navy after five years to transition to a civilian hospital. She worked as a labor and delivery nurse at Maryview Medical Center for another five years before deciding to pursue a graduate degree.
Kelly earned her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from Old Dominion University in 2006, and received her certification as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner from the National Certification Corporation. She is a member of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners.

Kelly has a special interest in adolescent gynecology, and also enjoys obstetrics and health promotion throughout all phases of a woman’s life, helping females of all ages keep their minds and bodies in great health.

Kelly married her husband Brian in 1998 and they have twin daughters, Kaitlyn and Meghan. She enjoys boating, skiing, reading, and spending time with her family.
