Biography

Dr. Sarah Lucente is a board-certified general surgeon with fellowship training in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care. A Virginia Beach native, she is proud to return home to serve the community that shaped her.

Dr. Lucente earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA. She went on to complete a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences at Eastern Virginia Medical School before earning her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine.

She completed her general surgery residency at Carilion Clinic–Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, where she served as an administrative chief resident and was honored with both the Berry Society Award and the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Surgical Education. She then completed a fellowship in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care at the University of California, Davis, in Sacramento, CA.

Dr. Lucente’s clinical interests include trauma and emergency general surgery, chest wall reconstruction, critical care, palliative care, advanced minimally invasive general surgery, and health care quality improvement. She is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, and the American Medical Association, and serves as an instructor for Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).

Outside of medicine, Dr. Lucente enjoys exercising and spending time outdoors, cooking, hiking, traveling, and caring for her dog, Dallas.
